Challenge:

The paddling pool that Ustigate installed at King George Recreation Ground, Bushey in 2000 had proven to be very popular with families but Hertsmere Borough Council were aware that the facility was outdated and the pool and plant was nearing the end of its life cycle. The location of the paddling pool is at the lowest point of the park and prone to flooding. This results in maintenance to keep the pool tank and water management system clean and free from debris.

Success:

In 2017 Hertsmere Borough Council were delighted to receive some section 106 funding, allowing the Council to embark upon a procurement process to improve the local drainage and enhance the aquatic recreation at King George Recreation Ground, Bushey. Hertsmere Borough Council requested a design and build program that would deliver a variety of products that would spray water at varying heights as well as a Water Journey™ with a pump and weirs where children go with the flow and learn. Our design includes a Labyrinth Water Journey™ with a pump, three streams and a variety of game features known to engage young children in collaborative and explorative play. Packed to the brim with play value, King George Recreation Ground also has nature themed tipping buckets, water jets, showering flowers and cannon fun! The fully compliant PWTAG recirculation system ensures the highest quality of water for children to play in safely. Bring buckets, rubber duckies and boats to add more fun!
